Developer Collaboration in Scottish Waters - Addressing Cumulative Effects
The Forth and Tay Offshore Wind Developers Group (FTOWDG) is comprised of the companies and consortia that propose to develop offshore wind farms in the outer Forth and Tay areas within Scottish Territorial Waters and in the adjacent Round 3 Firth of Forth Zone. The proposed wind farms represent a total capacity of over 6GW, and it is intended that all will be operational by 2020.
The waters in which the wind farm projects are located, and the nearby coastline, support a range of commercial (e.g. fishing and shipping) and recreational (e.g. golf, wildlife watching, water sports) activities, and a variety of nature conservation interest features (e.g. birds and marine mammals). The development of multiple offshore wind farms within the region has the potential to cause cumulative effects on a number of receptors and users.
In this session they will present the outputs from FTOWDG to date, elaborating on the novel methodologies being used to assess cumulative effects and explaining how the works undertaken by FTOWDG will be used by individual developers during consenting of their projects.
