RenewableUK Offshore Wind 2010

The UK is the world leader in offshore wind with more projects installed, in planning and in construction than any other country in the world.

Over 1,900 people attended RenewableUK's ninth annual offshore wind conference and exhibition, representing more than a 100% increase on the 2009 event attendance numbers.

Delegates included senior government officials, investors, financiers, manufacturers, developers and all others with an interest in the latest developments in offshore wind energy. Read a review of the event.

Two days of conference sessions examined how the UK maintains its position as the world leading offshore wind market. Delegates were brought up to date on a great variety of topics by high calibre speakers.  The key theme emanating from presentations and debate was confidence in the UK offshore wind sector. 

Chris Huhne made his first address at a RenewableUK conference in his new role as Secretary of State for the Department for Energy and Climate Change. Other highlights included keynote speeches from Rob Hastings, Director of the Marine Estate at The Crown Estate, Helen Philips, Chief Executive of Natural England and Andrew Buglass, Head of Power, Royal Bank of Scotland.  The conference was also the launch of RenewableUK’s report, “UK Offshore wind: Building an Industry” and also the announcement of the second stage of the Carbon Trust’s “Offshore Wind Accelerator”.

Exhibition

Over 130 companies active in UK offshore wind energy sector were on display at the exhibition, which sold out a couple of months prior to the event.
