Exhibitors' Reception
A networking reception was held at the end of Day One in the exhibition hall, sponsored by The Mersey Partnership, who gave a brief speech about how the City of Liverpool is supporting offshore wind. Entertainment was provided in the form of a Beatles tribute band.
Conference Reception
The official Conference Reception was held on the evening of Day One at Tate Liverpool, situated in the Albert Dock. Over 300 people attended the reception, which was sponsored by EMU.
Stakeholder Consultation Sessions
Drop in sessions were held to allow the industry to meet statutory consultees in the development process.
With the inauguration of the IPC and MMO, the planning process has changed substantially with a clear requirement on developers to rigorously consult with these consultees before submitting any application to the IPC. The surgery provides a perfect opportunity to discuss those difficult issues with the people who may determine whether your project gains consent.
Aviation stakeholders present were MoD, CAA and NATS En Route. Environmental stakeholders present were RSPB, Natural England, CCW, JNCC and MMO.
Boat Trip to Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm
A boat trip to Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm took place on Day Two, sponsored by DONG Wind. The Royal Daffodil took over 150 people along the River Mersey past various ciry of Liverpool sites involved in offshore wind, before leaving the mouth of the river to view Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm.
Norwegian Offshore Competence – available innovative wind energy resources
INTPOW – Norwegian Renewable Energy Partners, organised a conference and partnership side-event to promote Norwegian offshore wind industry and to encourage cooperation with Norwegian competence, innovation and capital strength. Participants from the Norwegian offshore wind industry presented and discussed solutions and opportunities. INTPOW and its industry partners were also present at the exhibition.
Northern Wind Innovation Programme Side Event
A Northern Wind Innovation Programme side event was organised by Envirolink Northwest. This seminar was designed to help companies in the market for new and innovative technologies aiming to improve the reliability of offshore wind turbines targeting three technological areas; AC/DC electrical conversion, bearing quality improvement, foundation system optimisation and installation technologies.
